Join illustrator Steffen Kreft and writer William Connor, creators of animated series Lifeswap, to create your own animated short.

Workshop Weekend:
Saturday 6 April 10am - 4pm
Sunday 7 April 10am - 3pm | Screening 5pm

On Saturday morning, William will give an introduction to storytelling, sharing some of his inspirations and fun processes for finding a storyline. Participants will explore and discover which (very short) story they want to tell and there will be time to develop it into a visual narrative.

Saturday afternoon, Steffen will introduce the concept of animation and demonstrate how to use an easy animation app. Using their own phones, participants will spend Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning animating their stories. To conclude the workshop there will be a screening of the animations in the Len Lye Cinema on Sunday afternoon.

Please bring your own phone and a collection of little objects that are meaningful and/or beautiful to you. They might be associated with a treasured memory or person or represent something important about your identity – the more unusual the better (rings, photos, flowers etc; nothing bigger than a plate). These objects can feature in your animation, but a basket of items/materials will also be provided.

Prior to the workshop (Friday 5 April 6pm), we invite you to a join us for the screening of all 13 Lifeswap episodes with a Q&A session with Steffen and William afterwards.

This programme is supported by the Goethe-Institut New Zealand.
