"Rebuilding a city, one narrative at a time takes courage and fortitude. It takes imagination, grit and a healthy dose of self reflection."

Puamiria Parata-Goodall

Monica Brewster Evenings is a monthly event series with thinkers, makers, enablers and practitioners from across the creative sector. Join us for our first Monica Brewster Evening for the year with Puamiria Parata-Goodall (Ngāi Tahu, Kāti Māmoe, Waitaha, Ngāti Kahungunu) in conversation with Huia Lambie (Ngāti Mutunga, Te Atiawa).

Puamiria Parata-Goodall is a self-confessed haka fiend and author of several cultural narratives which drive the design and incorporation of cultural indicators in buildings, landscapes and developments throughout Christchurch and Selwyn district. She is joined by Huia Lambie who was an associate of Puamiria’s during the recovery period from the Canterbury earthquakes. 13 years on from the earthquake, Puamiria and Huia reflect on the journey of reclaiming and reimagining the Ngāi Tahu narrative on its landscape. Pushing beyond the edges of the known horizons, Ngāi Tahu traditional and contemporary artists, historians, linguists, writers, architects, landscape architects and project managers stepped into space to rebalance the narrative, to bring the Ngāi Tahu story back into focus across greater Christchurch, and, to do so in a new and innovative ways.

Monica Brewster Evenings are produced in partnership with Govett Quilliam - The Lawyers, with further event support from Michael Radich Winemerchants, Theory Food, and Shining Peak brewing.
